Organization: Our Premature Children Foundation
Co-Founder: Margarita Gabrovska
Outreach: National – Bulgaria
Our Premature Children Foundation was established in 2012 by three mothers of premature babies in support of premature children and their families. There are experiences where personal pain becomes a mission and sorrow and tears turn into a driving force to create significant changes and premature birth appears to be such a kind of experience.
Part of our mission is to advocate for the right of every newborn who needs hospital treatment to receive quality and modern medical care focused on the family’s needs and their right to be with their child. The foundation is an active advocate for the cause of preterm birth and works together with national institutions and stakeholders to improve national policies in the field of Neonatology and long-term care for preterm-born children, as well as establishing a national program for follow-up, prevention and early childhood intervention of preventable and treatable complications caused by preterm birth.
We founded a Family Center, Tiny Miracles in 2017 to continue developing our mission and take adequate action of care and prevention of long-term disabilities, health complications and social difficulties as a result of premature birth. We provide therapy and consulting with SLP, OT, ECI specialists, psychologists, neonatologists and pediatricians.
