Callie Kirby is the Founder of Kaylen’s Fight. Callie relates, “Our twin girls, Kaylen and Kamdyn were born at 30 weeks with a prolonged NICU Stay. Sadly, Kaylen succumbed to Hydrops, (a condition that occurs when large amounts of fluid build up in a baby’s tissues and organs causing extreme swelling). Kaylen’s twin sister, Kamdyn spent 63 days in the NICU growing and feeding and is now a healthy, happy 2-year old.
Because of our experience with a NICU stay and infant loss, Kaylen’s Fight was created to support our local NICU’s, their patients, and eventually we hope to fund additional research for Hydrops.
Kaylen’s Fight Annual Event:
Come out and join us for our annual fundraiser as we RACE for a great cause! This year will be a little different as we practice social distancing and run our race virtually. We have moved the race to September 26th to support Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) awareness month and NICU Remembrance Day. All proceeds from this virtual race will help provide support to families and patients during their time spent in the NICU.
You can sign up and donate today to run your race from WHEREVER you want! Be sure to send us a photo from your run on Race Day so we can all celebrate our continuing fight to fund Hydrops research and support local NICUs “together”!
