March 2021 – Editor’s Note

Jenny R. McCormick, Senior Editor of PreemieWorld

According to the 2020 March of Dimes Report Card, in the United States, the preterm birth rate among Black women is 50% higher than the rate among all
other women.  Factors such as lack of access to maternity care, financial instability and lack of health insurance play a big part in deepening many health inequities
in our society.

With this being said, we are incredibly proud of organizations that are stepping up to the plate and using their voice to create a vision to support Black NICU Families.  Learn more about the Alliance for Black NICU Families and their important mission.
