Unstoppable Miracle! – Faiza & Rolando Bazan

Micah’s story:

Our son’s story started with a visit to the Ob/Gyn when my wife was 28 weeks and 3 days pregnant. Her blood pressure had been acting up for a few days and her OB had her admitted to the hospital for what was supposed to be 24 hours to check her protein levels. This stay turned out a lot longer than anticipated. Four days in, my wife was diagnosed with HELLP syndrome. On July 23rd, 2019 our son Micah Jared was born via emergency c-section at 29 weeks, weighing 2 pounds, 6 ounces. He was quickly put on a ventilator and taken to the NICU.

The NICU became our home and the entire NICU team became our family. Our son’s nurses and doctors loved him like one of their own. Our son showed us a strength beyond any comprehension and on October 7, 2019 after 76 days, we walked the halls of the NICU for the last time and welcomed our son home. Micah is now 2 and a half years old and continues to crush all his milestones.

Advice for preemie parents:

You are your child’s voice. Ask as many questions as you can. Your nurses are your partners.

Micah today:

Micah is now 2 years old. He copies others and he is excited when playing with other children. Micah is independent with many things like eating and or drinking. He points to things, knows body parts, repeats words and points out things in books when we read. He is able to run, jump and play without limitations.
